All men’s miseries derive from not being able to sit in a quiet room alone. – Blaise Pascal
When is enough enough?
On days when I come home early from work, I would sit next to Amy, on the floor in front of our couch, and talk about random things.
Often, as I sit here, next to Amy, with our two guinea pigs curled up next to her, my mind is pre-occupied with the troubles and anxiety of the day just past. I’m here but I’m not here.
Lately, perhaps through meditation or otherwise, my mind is where my body is. As I turn to look at her and our guinea pigs, I am reminded that this very moment is enough. Life cannot possibly get better than being here and now.
The happiness you seek may be closer than you imagine. Sometimes, it just takes a little mindfulness and attention.
